Soundandnoiseare nouns. We can use them both as countable or uncountablenouns. Both refer to something which you can hear, but when asoundis unwanted or unpleasant, we call it anoise:
There were lots ofsoundsin the forest.(countable)
It travels faster than the speed ofsound.(uncountable)
She made a lot ofnoise.(uncountable)
There were some funnynoisescoming from the engine.(countable)
