Either… or… connects two choices:

We useeither… or… to connect items which are the same grammatical type, e.g. words, phrases, clauses:

EitherI drive to the airportorI get a taxi.(connecting clauses)
The opposite ofeither… or… isneither… nor…. We use it to make negative statements connecting items:
We got so wet. We hadneitherumbrellasnorraincoats with us!
Neitherour familiesnorour friends know that we are getting married!
